Editing a QR code that is already printed
It all depends on the kind of code you printed. Here is how to find out in one minute, then the solution for each case.
Unsure about a QR code? Upload a photo of it: our tool shows where it leads, without your phone opening the page.
Step 1: find out which code you have
- Scan it and look at the address shown: if it is your website directly, it is a static code.
- If it is a short link from another service, it is a dynamic code managed by that service.
- Our “My QR code stopped working” tool shows every step of the path the code follows.
Case 1: a dynamic code
Sign in to the service that created it and change the destination: the printed code will follow. At QR Durable this is done in “My account”, with no limit on edits. If the service cut the code off (trial ended, subscription stopped), see our guide on codes that became paid.
Case 2: a static code leading to your own website
The code cannot change, but the page it opens can: edit that page, or ask your web host for a redirect from that address to the new one. That trick saves a reprint.
Case 3: a static code leading elsewhere
No edit is possible: you need a new code. This time choose an editable code so you are never stuck again: €2.99 once, no subscription.
Questions
How many times can a QR Durable code be edited?
As many times as you like, at no cost.
Does the printed code look different after an edit?
No: the image stays exactly the same, only the destination changes.
